MOMENT A POPULAR BIG GIRL CAUGHT WITH A MARRIED MAN STR*IPPED NA*KED
Popular ‘Big Girl’ that has no name?
To be fair to the post, the lady in question may be popular or indeed a big girl, that isn’t the point here. My point is should we continue to encourage and celebrate this barbaric act in the 21st century? It does not put Nigeria in good light what-so-ever. Let’s call a spate a spate.
The post continued with this baseless description of what was supposed to have taken place;
Those who know her say she specializes in “doing it” with married man but this time she was caught with a man whose wife doesn’t take shit. The woman pounced on her with punches and slaps, and others joined her to help strip her in public. The babe was thoroughly disgraced.
This barbaric act should not be happening in our country. Openly lynching people on the streets, burning people alive, people stripping fellow Nigerians naked in public does not belong to this century. What does it say about us as a nation.
Its simply barbaric and this is why I have frowned at OLUFAMOUS’s post today. I don’t know the blogger. I have no problems with his blog. However, like everything Nigerian, we redefine acts.
Every Jack and Jill now has a blog because its been widely reported that Linda Ikeji is making millions from her blog. Good for her and, you know what, she deserves it because she has been consistent at what she does. Congratulations to you Linda. Do I agree with every post of hers? Of course not. Most especially her latest stint of giving out millions of Naira in the name of giving back. If she truly has that sort of money to give out, couldn’t it be for a good course. Then again, its not my money. Its hers and she can rightly spend it as she deems right. Others may insinuate she is raising the stake in the blogging sphere. Personally, there is room for every blogger. If you have something to say and people resonate with it and come back for more, I don’t have to pay you to do so. No one does it any where in the world except Nigeria. But, hey, she did. Its her prerogative. Not many at this point would be able to live up to that standard. I don’t want to digress…..
If the truth were to be said, in the real sense of it, Nigerians do not have many GENUINE BLOGGERS. What we have instead are COPY and PASTE website owners disguised as bloggers.
How many bloggers out there can really piece together a sentence?
How many bloggers out there admit mistakes when they make one?
How many Nigerian bloggers out there have opinions to reflect?
We have stories culled from Punch, Vanguard, Guardian, etc pasted all over blogs and its a matter of who pastes first.
A majority of the bloggers do not even have the energy to compose a different title to culled stories, you know, to give it a different flavour. Hence, when you google a story, you see countless number of Nigerian blogs with the same title. What rubbish.
You know what else is rubbish, those that post comments. For crying out loud, I wish they can make it impossible for anonymous commentators to post comments. How lazy can these faceless bullies be. They can’t even be bothered to set up a special email account purposely to post comments. I can tell you that a majority of these anonymous commentators are young and it is scary to imagine the generation of the youth judging by comments posted. Comments are baseless, senseless and full of grammatical errors. A majority resort to pidgin english.
We are bloggers primarily, because, we want to make a difference. We yearn to make a difference. We believe we have so much to say and do, hence we have chosen to put our names and reputations on the line. To put our views across. However, if we are in the blogging business with making money as our first objective, just because everyone says Linda Ikeji is a millionaire and made her money from blogging, then you will resort to Copying and pasting.
Toni Payne in an eloquent manner puts her views across. Bella Naija is a fabulous site that breaks news. They have defined what they stand for and is an example of how a blog can metamorphise into a serious entertainment site. Bella Naija is in it for the long term without a shadow of doubt. Diary By Emmy Collins is another good read. The guy, whom I have never met writes it as he sees it. Now, that to me, is how a true blogger should operate. On the music scene, Not Just Ok is the site to go to. I truly admire the persistence and consistency those guys have gone about their business. They have now become an authority at what they do. These are just a few of the sites that readily come to mind.
Fellow Bloggers, we can make a difference. We now have the means to change opinions and carry news that otherwise would have been swept under the carpet. However, let us be responsible at how we disseminate news.
