THE TOF HANS VOLLENWEIDER "HE'S THE SWITZERLAND'S LAST PERSON TO BE EXECUTED

 Hans Vollenweider - Switzerland’s last execution.


Hans Vollenweider became the last murderer to be executed in Switzerland when he was guillotined at 2.00 a.m. on the 18th of October 1940 in the workshop of the prison at Sarnen, in the Canton of Obwalden.


 Vollenweider made no final statement and declined the services of a priest and a last meal.  It is probable that the executioner was Theodor Mengis Jr.


Vollenweider was a triple murderer who had been convicted of the shootings of Chauffeur Hermann Zwyssig, postman Emil Stoll and policeman Alois von Moos.  


He had escaped from prison where he he was serving a sentence for robbery and committed the crimes over a nine day period in June 1939. 


 He was tried at Obwalden on the 19th of September 1940 for only the murder of Alois von Moos, as this was the only one committed in the Canton of Obwalden.  This would be the last death sentence handed down by a civil court.


At that time, there was only one guillotine left in the whole of Switzerland which was loaned to any canton who needed it. It had been originally commissioned for Zurich, and is now on display in the entrance lobby of the Historic Museum of Lucerne.


The death penalty for murder was abolished on the 1st of January 1942, however, it continued in force for treason and military crimes up to 1992. During World War II, a law came into effect prescribing the death penalty for treason and revealing military secrets.


 Seventeen people were put to death under this legislation, the last execution taking place on the 7th of December 1944.

6 years ago 19 Yazidi women and girls were burned in Mosul Women and girls from Sinjar were kidnapped by ISIL during the genocide on 03.08.2014. They were humiliated, beaten and raped, bought and sold at the local market as if they were things.  After being sold again, the women refused EN masse to serve as ISIS sex slaves and were burned alive as punishment for their insubordination. A cage with Yazidi girls and women was set up in the middle of Mosul. Hundreds of people looked at the fate of the Yazidis and did nothing about it.  The boy who vanished in the mountains, 1969 Dennis Lloyd Martin was a six-year-old boy who disappeared in the Smoky Mountains with his family on a yearly camping trip in June of 1969.  Three murderers at Tyburn In 1751 Parliament passed an Act “for better preventing the horrid crime of murder” which specified that a person convicted of murder was to be kept in chains and fed on only bread and water and to be hanged within 48 hours, unless that would have been a Sunday in which case the execution was carried out on the following Monday. This Act mandated the dissection or gibbeting of the murderer's body after execution.
