SAUDI ROYAL DEATH PENALTY Saudi Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabir is EXECUTED after admitting shooting a man dead during a punch-up
The execution is one of the few examples of a member of the ruling family being put to death
A SAUDI prince has been executed after he was found guilty of shooting dead a man he had just been involved in a punch-up with.
Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabir blasted Adel al-Mohaimeed to death following the bust-up back in 2012.
It is one of the only examples of a ruling family member being executed in the Middle Eastern powerhouse.
One of the most prominent cases was Faisal bin Musaid al Saud, who assassinated his uncle, King Faisal, in 1975.
The method of execution was not confirmed by the state broadcaster after it took place in capital Riyadh.
But the majority of death sentences see the guilty party beheaded with a sword.
A government statement read: "The government.. is keen to keep order, stabilise security and bring about justice through implementing the rules prescribed by Allah..."
The Saudi royal family numbers in the thousands.
While members receive monthly stipends, and the most senior princes command great wealth and political power, only a few in the family hold nationally important government posts.
